Team Embrace supports young victims of crime with every step

More than £5000 has been raised to support young victims of serious crime across the UK thanks to the sporting power of Team Embrace.

On Sunday October 13 our running heroes, Jimmy Adams, Claire Ruditis, Emma Pitts, Dani Bailey, Hannah Bennett, Laura Bagshaw, Philippa Marshall, Ruben Van Schalkwyk, Nick Chapman and Chloe Raw completed the iconic Royal Parks Half Marathon and at the same time raised thousands for young victims of serious crime.

The central London Half Marathon takes in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

As spectators came together at London’s Royal Parks to support the half-marathon’s courageous participants the atmosphere was electric. You could feel the buzz in the air as runners supporting a total of 560 charities including our very own warriors from Team Embrace sped past roaring crowds.

Wearing our eye-catching running jerseys, our runners were raising both awareness and funds to support young victims of crime across the UK.

Embrace is the only national children’s charity solely focused on supporting children and young people through the trauma of experiencing serious crime such as sexual abuse, domestic violence and homicide.

Children, nominated by frontline professionals, can access a range of emotional, practical and well-being support that helps them to cope and recover.

Thanks to our committed team the £5000 raised for Embrace CVoC will help to support the recovery of children and families across the UK in ways most specific to them such as Trauma focus CBT therapy,  Equine Assisted Psychotherapy or even the provision of fishing equipment to pursue their chosen hobby, as examples.

Despite the rain and mud, our champs were given a warm welcome at the finish line and presented with goodie bags and medals, to thank them for their devotion and dedication.

All of our runners said what a rewarding experience training and running the 13 miles was, with our very own Fundraising Manager, Chloe Raw, exclaiming ‘That was so much fun and such a buzz! I really enjoyed it’ as she made it safely home.

We hope our runners’ positive experiences encourages you to join Team Embrace for the Royal Parks Half Marathon next year! It’s not too early to start training now!
