Could you become a trustee for us?

We are looking to recruit some new trustees to join our board.

Our children’s charity supports young victims of serious crimes including abuse, violence and exploitation across the UK.

We are hoping to fill at least two vacant positions with people who have a real passion for child protection and the drive to help the charity grow to support more families across the UK.

Last year, we supported 3,738 children and families across the UK with emotional support and counselling, practical support including food and clothing vouchers, and books, toys and educational equipment.

We also provided more than 1,000 theme park tickets to families traumatised by crime to help them maker new happier memories together, thanks to our partnership with Merlin’s Magic Wand Children’s Charity

Anne Campbell, Chief Executive of Embrace Child Victims of Crime said: “We are currently quite a small charity but we have a big ambition to grow so we can reach many more children across the UK who have been traumatised by crime and desperately need help to rebuild their lives.

“With our new vision and strategy we are looking for trustees who will support us on this journey bringing the skills they have gained in their professional lives to help us achieve our aims.”

Trustee positions are unpaid, although approved out of pocket expenses will be covered. Interested parties must be able to commit to giving eight days of their time each year to attend board meetings, the charity’s Annual General Meeting and support one of the charity’s sub-committees.

Our organisation was founded by Cheshire police officers in 1993 in response to two terrorist incidents in Warrington which killed two boys and injured 56 others. We became a registered charity a year later, initially providing trips to Disney World Florida for families harmed by crime.

In more recent years we added Embrace to our original name, Child Victims of Crime, to become Embrace Child Victrims of Crime. We have also widened our offering to include emotional and practical support.

To apply, please send your CV with an accompanying letter providing your reasons for wishing to join the board to ceo@embracecvoc.org.uk.

For an informal chat or to find out more information, please contact Kevin Shapland, Secretary to the Board of Trustees, on 07960 588074.

The deadline for applications is Friday 14 October 2022.
