Award-winning news and sci-tech journalist, TV presenter and screen and voice actor Waseem Mirza has joined Embrace Child Victims of Crime as an ambassador.
DC Comic book fans will soon also see Waseem in the Batman origins HBO Max series Penny-worth in which he plays a TV reporter.
Waseem, who lives in London and was born and grew up in Peterborough, where Embrace CVoC has its headquarters, has previously worked for BBC World, BBC Asian Network and the eastern regional nightly news programme BBC Look East.
Whilst at BBC Look East, he was named TV Hotshot by Broadcast – a UK media industry magazine. The award recognised his ability to attract a new generation of younger viewers to television news in his role as lead presenter of the 8pm news summary on BBC One.
Waseem said: “Through publicity on the new season of the Batman origin drama “Pennyworth”, I hope to highlight how child victims of crime need more real-life superheroes to look up to and throw a spotlight on the support available to them to help put an end to bullying, abuse and exploitation – wherever it happens in the UK.
“I’m thrilled to be able to use my platform to shine a spotlight on the fantastic work Embrace Child Victims of Crime does every day to support children and heal their trauma and help change so many young lives for the better.”
