What is the Champions for Children Campaign?
In light of the Coronavirus and its inevitable impacts on vulnerable children and young people across London, The Childhood Trust is launching the Champions for Children campaign to raise unrestricted funds for charities who are working with children in London whose lives have been impacted by the pandemic.
The Champions for Children campaign offers supporters of participating charities the chance to have their donation doubled on thebiggive.org.uk when the campaign goes live.
Alfie’s Fund
We’re raising vital funds to help children who have been harmed by crime and who are now living in households where there is little or no income as a result of Covid-19 measures.
We already work with children and young people who have been harmed by crime – we are now aware of many families who, as a result of Coronavirus, have been plunged into poverty as a result of loss of household income. We are also aware of the increased calls to police reporting domestic violence and that many children are living in difficult, tense environments with no relief in sight.
Our solution
Our Family Support Packages are aimed at providing some relief for these families. Each package is tailored to the needs of the family and the number of children.
Items are centred around the three ‘Es’ – Essentials, Educational and Entertainment, and they include supermarket vouchers, educational items to aid home schooling as well as toys and activities for lockdown amusement.
We will also provide the means for a young person to receive emotional support if it is needed.
Impact
The impact of our work will be to improve significantly the ordinary everyday for children and young people who have suffered as a result of crime and whose household is now on the breadline as a result of virus measures. It will be a lifeline for those who are suffering extreme tension and anxiety and who need professional help to understand their feelings and need coping strategies. We will also be measuring the impact on the adults in the family home.

The campaign launches at 12pm on Tuesday 8 June and donations will be doubled until 12pm on Tuesday 15 June. Please note the donation page link will not open until the above times.
