THE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE 2019 - One donation, twice the impact.
Donate to Embrace this Christmas and see your donation DOUBLE in size!
We’re delighted to announce that from 12pm on Tuesday 3 December your donations to us will be generously doubled for a limited time only.
If you’re thinking of making a donation this Christmas, there’s no better time than #GivingTuesday!
The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign that helps UK registered charities raise funds for their cause. The Big Give offers supporters of participating charities the chance to have their donation doubled when the Christmas Challenge goes live.
Over 700,000 children between 10 and 15 are victims of reported serious crime each year.
To date we have helped over 16,000 child victims of crime and their families, almost 50% of referrals to Embrace relate to sexual abuse or assault.
Domestic violence accounts for nearly 16% of our beneficiaries meanwhile, serious violent crime, including knife crime is on the increase, particularly in London with an increase of 26 offences per 100,000 population in 2017/18 (compared to 2016/17)
Our combination of practical, emotional and specialist support, delivered through a London-based Co-ordinator will respond to the immediate need of young victims of serious crime, and offer additional support/guidance to their families.
Our team can refer young victims/families for specialist counselling, engage local support organisations and create a bespoke package of support for each case.
For the charity, the long term change will be a stability in staffing levels across Greater London, which will result in an increased presence, stronger partnerships and ultimately more young victims supported in the most appropriate way.
As a growing charity, increasing our professional resource is paramount to meeting the growing demand for our services. For the young victims and families we support this will mean less waiting times, more options and a continued professional service.
