Over the last few months, Bernard Rix of PolicingTV has spoken to some of our supporters to hear their stories and the reasons they support Embrace Child Victims of Crime.
You can watch their conversations below
Thalia Grace, beneficiary and supporter
Thalia initially struggled with the idea of talking to a stranger, but eventually opened up and learned how to cope with her trauma. She discusses the stereotypes and fears that developed as a result of her experience and how counselling helped her put those emotions away. Thalia encourages young people to seek help and not be ashamed of therapy or counselling. She also expresses her gratitude to Embrace and supports the charity through various initiatives.
Festus Akinbusoye, former Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire
Festus Akinbusoye is a British Conservative Party politician who was elected Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) in the 2021 PCC elections.
He is the first black Briton elected to this role. In this third part of an exclusive three part interview (recorded on a poor internet connection), he tells PolicingTV’s Bernard Rix about the work that he, his Bedfordshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) and the charity Embrace CVOC have done together to support child victims of crime within the county.
Rhys Dickinson, beneficiary and trustee
In this conversation, Rhys Dickinson, a trustee and ambassador of the charity Embrace Child Victims of Crime, shares his personal experience as a victim of serious crime and the support he received from Embrace and other organizations.
Rhys highlights the challenges of sharing traumatic experiences, the range of support provided by Embrace, and the importance of funding and support for the charity.
