Airwave staff elf with wrapping

11 December 2020

Staff from Airwave, which provides the communications network for the emergency services, travelled to Peterborough to support The Dear Santa campaign.

The team travelled from all over the country to join staff from Embrace Child Victims of Crime at its offices in Copse Court, Thorpe Wood, Peterborough to wrap gifts for some of the children benefiting from this year’s campaign.

Airwave is part of Embrace CVOC’s corporate sponsorship programme called the 100 club which aims to partner with 100 businesses over a rolling three-year-period to help fund its vital services.

Airwave National Business Relationship Manager Teressa Latimer said: “As members of Embrace’s 100 club Airwave were happy to get involved in the Dear Santa campaign. As well as wrapping presents we also helped in the call centre speaking to nominated families to find out the gift their children would like from Santa. It was a really humbling experience and good to see in person the positive way Embrace is helping to spread smiles and rebuild children’s lives.”

Chief executive of Embrace Child Victims of Crime Anne Campbell said: “It was a great opportunity for Airwave to provide practical assistance to our appeal and get a greater understanding of the work we do. We were really grateful for their time.”

Embrace CVOC is unique because it’s the only organisation in the UK that solely supports child victims of crime. Some of the children supported by Embrace CVOC have lost a parent or sibling through serious crime. Some of them have experienced sexual, physical or emotional abuse or have suffered years of neglect. It might be they have been living in a home torn apart by domestic violence. These children have dealt with unimaginable trauma in their young lives and police officers, teachers or others who work in safeguarding roles will have referred them to Embrace CVOC to get the help and support they need.
